BIG list of SF shorts (some of them free!)

August 17, 2013

I came across this last night and thought I’d share it, just on the off chance that there are any SF nuts here who haven’t seen it yet.

Listed in the above link are one hundred pieces of short science fiction, all of which were written by female writers. Several of these stories just so happen to be available for free online; in such cases, links are provided.  Needless to say, this list could keep you busy for a long time to come.

On a side note, I was absolutely thrilled to see Bloodchild on the list (at #34, to be precise). Bloodchild, for those who are wondering, is a short story written by a certain Octavia E Butler. It can very broadly be described as a love story, albeit an extremely bizarre one. It also happens to be my favorite story of all time, for any size or medium. If you ever get the change to read it, do. Seriously. It’s awesome. Do it.

The cover art is only slightly weirder.

A big thanks to Joachim Boaz for making me aware of the blog in question. Be sure to check out his blog as well when you have the time 🙂
